What is a .jfif file?
JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format) is the same image format as JPEG — the only difference is the file extension. Windows 10/11, the Edge browser, and some Asian messengers (notably KakaoTalk) sometimes save images with the .jfif extension instead of .jpg, which can confuse uploaders that filter on extension. Renaming to .jpg fixes the issue without touching the image bytes — no quality loss whatsoever.
How to Use
- Drag and drop your .jfif files onto the upload area, or click to browse.
- Multiple files are supported for batch conversion.
- Click "Convert to JPG" — the file bytes are kept identical.
- Download individual files or use "Download All".
FAQ
Will the JPG be exactly the same as the JFIF?
Yes. JFIF is just JPEG with a different file extension. We rename without re-encoding, so you get a byte-identical copy under .jpg — zero quality loss.
Why does Windows save images as .jfif?
Modern Edge and Chrome on Windows occasionally apply the .jfif extension based on the JPEG file's internal JFIF header. It's a known Windows quirk that has frustrated users for years. The fix is just to rename it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
