Why the Same Album Can Be Wildly Different Sizes
FLAC compression varies enormously with the music itself, which surprises people comparing file sizes across an album.
Dense, loud, heavily compressed modern production leaves little redundancy for lossless compression to find, so a FLAC might be 70% of the WAV size. Sparse acoustic recordings with quiet passages compress far better, sometimes to 40%. A track with genuine silence between movements compresses better still.
MP3 behaves differently again: at a fixed bitrate every track of the same length is roughly the same size regardless of content, because the bitrate is what you asked for. That is why the ratio between the FLAC and the MP3 varies so much from track to track even at the same settings.

Roughly three to five times. A typical album might be 300 MB in FLAC and 80 MB as 320 kbps MP3.
Can I hear the difference?
At 320 kbps, most listeners cannot in a blind test on normal equipment. The gap widens on high-end gear, with headphones, and at lower bitrates.
Should I delete the FLAC after converting?
